I\u2019ve never seen anything like this before and I\u2019ll definitely be back\u201d<\/em> COMING UP:<\/p> SUNDAY 14TH JULY: AN INFORMAL AFTERNOON WITH TEA & CAKE & LUCY SUGGATE & CHARLIE MORRISSEY MOVING TO GLENN GOULD’S 1981 RECORDING OF THE GOLDBERG VARIATIONS<\/p> FRIDAY 20 SEPTEMBER – KIRSTIE SIMSON PERFORMING SUBTERRAN\u00c9A<\/p> TUESDAY 29 OCTOBER TIME ETCHELLS & MEG STUART PERFORMING SHOWN & TOLD<\/p> FRIDAY 8 NOVEMBER – SEKE CHIMUTENGWENDE PERFORMING SOLO IMPROVISATION<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t Wainsgate Dances<\/strong> has been hosting world class performances since 2018, from rigorous artists, whose work questions what dance is, what it can do, who can do it, and who it’s for.<\/p> The response from audiences has been hugely enthusiastic and positive. A performance at Wainsgate always feels like a special event, and people always stay around after the show for drinks and to chat in the best pop-up bar for miles around, with a buzzing atmosphere often supported by a live DJ.<\/p> Wainsgate provides a wonderful, welcoming and informal setting in which to experience the work of some great artists whose work is rarely seen outside of urban centres.<\/p> When artists are in residence,\u00a0 there is often an invitation for people to come in and see and talk about the work in progress giving a real sense of how dance is made and what inspires it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t \u201cAttending (and performing in) the Wainsgate Dances weekend, organised by Charlie Morrissey and Rob Hopper, has been the highlight of my year so far!<\/em> In the past we have hosted performances from artists including:<\/p> Wendy Houstoun<\/a> with Jonathan Burrows, Francesca Fargion and Matteo Fargion;<\/a> Kirstie Simson<\/a> Andrea Buckley\/ Charlie Morrissey;\u00a0<\/a> Lucy Suggate;\u00a0<\/a> Connor Scott and friends ;<\/a> Christopher Owen<\/a>; Anushiye Yarnell; Charlie Brittain<\/a>; Gemma Higginbotham<\/a>; Hannah Buckley<\/a>; Katye Coe; Katie Duck and Sharon Smith<\/a> Jo Fong & George Orange<\/a>; Samir Kennedy and others.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t \u00a0\u201cWainsgate Dances was one of the stand out\u00a0 festival events, an extraordinary weekend programme of inspiring, unexpected, bespoke and curated experiences in a stunning nonconformist chapel\u00a0 setting. The juxtaposition of contemporary conversations and choreography in a heritage\u00a0 context is mindblowing.
