CHARLIE FORD

Charlie is a visual artist practicing in drawing, image making, movement and performance. He is interested in extracting everyday actions, objects and spaces, and playfully reorganising our experience with them.

While working primarily in drawing he deeply engages with movement research, in particular choreography, and more broadly with design practices to support and build his visual language. Charlie works in a reflective, fragmented and precise manner while trying to maintain an empathetic approach towards his artistic process. He is conscious of how his characteristics are always reshaping his practice, and how they are present or invisible in his body of work so far.

Charlie is from Greater Manchester. He received a BA in Dance Studies (2013) from Middlesex University, UK, followed by an MFA in Studio Art (2017) from the San Francisco Art Institute, US. He currently lives in West Yorkshire, where he also works as a drawing technician in furniture design.
