Afternoon Tea with The Piano Club
Tea, cake and gorgeous piano music
Saturday September 28 3.30-5.30pm £6/£4 BUY TICKETS
For many years the Afternoon Tea recital has been a firm favourite with Halifax audiences. It’s a winning combination – wonderful music performed by a dozen or so members of the Halifax-based Piano Club* accompanied by delectable afternoon tea during the interval (refreshments not included in ticket price).
The programme will include several pieces by Russian composers, and a varied selection of works by other “greats”. At the end as has become customary, there’ll probably be something a bit more jazzy to complete what is always a delightful afternoon.
*The Piano Club is a forum for pianists to share skills and knowledge about all aspects of the piano and its repertoire.
The Piano Club started over 30 years ago and was a forerunner of the many piano meet-up groups that can now be found throughout the UK. It not only offers a forum for pianists to play, perform and develop within a sympathetic and friendly environment, but also the opportunity to discuss aspects of piano playing and repertoire with fellow musicians.
At The Piano Club’s monthly meetings members choose whatever they want to perform, and the group also regularly selects shared core topics that may only last a few weeks or stretch to several months. Such past projects have included Baroque keyboard music, French, Spanish, North and South American piano music, Debussy, “Les Six” and currently Russian music.
