WAINSGATE PIANO WEEKEND 27-29 SEPTEMBER 2024

Welcome to the Wainsgate Piano Weekend!

In all the time we have been putting on concerts and other performance events at Wainsgate, we have never included piano recitals – and never put on an event like this that stretches over a whole weekend! Recipe for disaster? Hopefully not because many of us were involved in organising and managing the seven Hebden Bridge Piano Festivals from 2013 to 2019 upon which this weekend is loosely modelled.

See below for our stellar line-up of renowned artists – most of whom have also performed at the Piano Festival – who will be playing some of the greatest piano music ever written. This is balanced by exciting and enticing events by and for the local community. There are free gigs in the bar for headline concert ticket holders, and there are two events which provide opportunities for non-professional players from around our region to perform.

With so much to pack in, this unique celebration of the piano is likely to be a memorable, action-packed weekend. It couldn’t take place without the help of our many volunteer organisers, stewards and other helpers, and my heartfelt thanks go to them for their hard work. Thanks also to our piano sponsors Dr Linda Patterson & Forsyth Music for their help without which so much of this exciting programme simply could not happen. And finally, for the similar reasons, I would like to thank our audience members, many of whom have been supporting Wainsgate since our first concerts in 2006. We hope you have an enjoyable and memorable weekend! DOWNLOAD PDF OF WEEKEND’S EVENTS

Charles Owen is well known for his work as an accompanist and chamber performer. This has led to a refined sense of orchestration and a delicacy of balance and voicing, all of which inform both his solo playing and also his teaching at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
