Celebrating the opening of Wainsgate’s brand new space, Skin of Light brings four distinctive artists together through their shared involvement with Wainsgate Chapel, their knowledge of and relationship to the landscape it sits in, and their desire to learn from and be inspired by one another’s creative practices.

The exhibition emerges from an extended period of exploration during which the four have walked the landscape around Wainsgate, discussed deep time, continuity and shared ideas around what ‘place’ means to each of them; they have investigated plants local to the area and how land and past communities have affected the environment. Skin of Light reflects both their individual and joint journeys of discovery.
