Autobiographical sculptures exploring female domesticity through the reconfiguration of the kitchen utensil

Carole Griffiths is a practicing sculptor and art educator with over 25 years of experience in the field. She studied sculpture at Wimbledon School of Art and holds an MA from Leeds Metropolitan University. Her work has been exhibited widely across the UK, including shows in Canterbury, London, Bradford, Halifax, Leeds, Sheffield, Derby, and York.

A member of the Yorkshire Sculptors Group, Carole actively contributes to exhibitions that explore and challenge contemporary themes. She recently completed a PhD in Philosophy through art practice at Coventry University, with a thesis titled Sculptural Reconfigurations of the Kitchen Utensil: A Poetic Chaos of Domesticity.

Carole’s sculptural practice engages in a dynamic dialogue with domestic objects, exploring themes of displacement, use, and autobiographical narrative. Her work transforms familiar utensils and household items into poetic reflections of the everyday, offering a contemplative view into domestic life and artistic process. Through this lens, she invites viewers to explore the intricate interplay between materials, methods, meanings, and memories, creating a space where subjects and objects speak with unexpected resonance.
