Vasilis Xenopoulos and Paul Edis began playing together 20 years ago, when they had both relocated to London to study. Originally from Greece, Vasilis had just finished studying at Berklee College in the US, whilst Paul had moved South from the Northeast of England. In the intervening years they’ve played numerous gigs together, releasing their first album in 2016, A Narrow Escape to critical acclaim.
Paul has also performed alongside other leading jazz names including Alan Barnes, Jim Mullen, Tim Garland, , Tony Kofi, Steve Waterman and Iain Ballamy, and his music has been played on the radio in the UK, US and in Europe.
Vasilis is one of the most accomplished Greek jazz musicians of his generation and has gradually established himself as one of London’s finest up and coming jazz saxophonists. He has worked with some of the best musicians of the International Jazz Scene as band leader, section leader and as guest soloist at various projects.
Released in April on Ubuntu Records, the duo’s latest recording Feels Like Home features original music inspired by the many places they’ve called home over the years.
